Document scanners require some type of interface (connection)
between the scanner and the PC. Slower scanners can use the USB 1.1connection, so
you need only a USB 1.1 port and cable. Faster scanners require the installation of
either a SCSI card/cable, a video card/cable, FireWire card/cable or a
USB2.0 card/cable. You may already have a USB 2.0 port on your PC.
The card must be
installed in the PC, then the cable connects the card to the scanner. The
scanner sends the image through the cable to the card and onto your hard drive.
Each scanner and cable and card have SPECIFIC configurations, so
you must check the specs on the scanner AND card to know which cable you need.
If you came here from the "add to cart" area on our web pages, we have already
listed the proper connections for you on that page.
